We worked with Sherlock for 10 years, designing retail and trade packaging for their heavy-duty wheelbarrows, replacement wheels, and hardware accessories sold throughout Australia's leading hardware chains.
Hardware packaging presents unique commercial challenges. Unlike grocery items protected in clean supermarket aisles, trade products endure rough handling, outdoor storage, and demanding worksite environments. Packaging must be tough, weather-resistant, and visually unambiguous. A tradie or DIY homeowner standing in a busy hardware aisle needs to verify hub size, axle diameter, weight capacity, and puncture-proof specifications within seconds.
Our approach was built around functional clarity: bold typography, technical schematics, and high-visibility color coding that reduced purchasing errors and cut down on retail returns. By creating a unified design language across the entire Sherlock replacement parts range, we helped elevate what had been treated as utilitarian hardware into a branded, premium choice on the shelf.
