Aeroplane Jelly was first introduced in 1927 by Bert Appleroth, who was a tram conductor in Sydney, Australia. The brand’s most iconic product is its powdered jelly mix, which is used to create wobbly, tasty and colorful jelly desserts. Appleroth’s wife came up with the name “Aeroplane Jelly” to capitalize on the aviation craze of the era.
One of the brand’s most enduring aspects is its catchy jingle, which was first aired on Australian radio in 1938. The jingle, sung by a child with its memorable lyrics “I like Aeroplane Jelly, Aeroplane Jelly for me,” became deeply ingrained in Australian popular culture and is still recognized by many to this day. This an essential element of the Brand Identity. This creates an atmosphere of innocent fun that persists to this day.
We worked with the Aeroplane team over many years to strengthen Aeroplane’s place in the heart of Australians through Brand Identity and Packaging Design that highlighted both the product offer and the much loved personality of this Australian icon. Fun is the key to an emotional connection nearly 100 years old.
